Project Scope:

This grant funded project was to provide ease of access for an elderly resident to her toilet and showering faciltiies within her own home.

The works:

The existing bathroom suite was completely removed and services reorganised to suit the layout of the proposed wetroom, including re-locating the existing radiator and WC.

The existing door opening was widened and a new door and frame installed. A new trapped shower gully was installed into the floor and suitably prepared for the installation of new safety flooring.

All the walls were full height tiled with a mosaic border, chosen by the resident. A 1m2 shower area was enclosed using specified bi-folding screen doors and curtain bridging the existing window. New, enslosed light fittings were installed, along with a humidity contolled extractor fan and 9kw electric shower. Finally the room was fully decorated.

Special considerations:

At all times during the project, effort was made to ensure mess was kept to a minimum, suitable carpet protection was installed and to ensure the resident was never left without the use of her facilities for any amount of time.
