Project Scope:
This property suffered a long standing issue with a leak into the ground floor of the property, which turned into an insurance claim. A speicalist survey had identified that the existing floor finishes should be taken up and the floor surface abraded and levelled, prior to installing a liquid damp proof membrane.
Complications:
A previous contractor had installed the membrane incorrectly, causing considerable damage to the existing kitchen units and all associated surfaces and rendering the actual membrane defective. Merisons were asked to attend and provide a detailed schedule of works to repair the original issue, and correct the additional damage caused by the attempted repair works.
The works:
This began by stripping out the entire ground floor and exposing the existing substrate. The floor was then abraded, a suitable layer of self levelling compound installed prior to a new liquid membrane, in accordance with the manufactuers srurvey and specification.
Follow on works included the supply and fit of new floor tiles throughout the ground floor, and tiling walls to utility and kitchen splashback. The damaged kitchen was replaced with a new kitchen to the clients specification.
A new WC and basin was fitted to the downstairs utility room and plastering to porch and new second fix joinery throughout. Some general electrical works were undertaken such as replacement lighting and general connections.
Finally we completed extensive decoration including rubbing down existing woodwork, windows, doors and frames.
Client comment:
Thank you for all your help, for the excellent workmanship from your team, for managing that very difficult situation regarding the tiles and for your professionalism and helpfulness throughout. As you know it's been a really long haul for us and the last few months since you and your team have come on board we have felt like a weight was lifted. We have no hesitation in recommending Merisons and would hope to work with you again in future if we had another building project.
